Symposium 2016

Putting the Pieces Together
February 9 | Meydenbauer Center

A Special Thanks to our Attendees, Sponsors, and Exhibitors for a Fantastic Symposium!

Many HR professionals gathered to mingle and find the missing pieces of competency in their puzzle.  Breakout sessions were packed, presenters shared new tools, action plans were initiated, and rooms were buzzing with the exchange of ideas and laughter. Keynote Speakers hit a home run by filling all the bases: what, why, and how! Microsoft’s Cynthia Per-Lee woke everyone up by calling on us to “Be a Catalyst.” Emotions were stirred and a standing ovation ensued after the charismatic Mark Canlis delivered his people-centric leadership message to remind us that we have the “Courage to Change.” He posed that the single most important question we must ask ourselves is, “How do I help my employee to become the person he or she would like to become?” T-Mobile’s Liz Sullivan shared the company’s “Signature Moves” that allowed them to switch gears, remove pain points, and break from the “usual way of business”. We hope you were renewed and inspired to complete your puzzle.

The Symposium was a tremendous success and a thank you is in order. Without you, this event would cease to exist. Thank you to our attendees, volunteers, Meydenbauer Center staff, sponsors, keynote speakers, breakout session presenters, exhibitors, association volunteers and management team, and committees.

See you next year! Early bird registration for our 2017 symposium begins this fall. Learn how to get involved by contacting the office and/or stay tuned to our website.

Resourceful HR

Much like pieces in a puzzle, today’s HR professionals must possess certain core competencies to successfully serve our companies, develop our careers, and advance the HR profession.

These puzzle pieces fit together in a specific way to reveal a well-rounded, business savvy, HR professional who 'gets' the big picture.

Seeing the big picture is just the first step.

Where do you begin?  By attending the 2016 LWHRA Symposium of course. Each speaker or topic is aligned to a specific core competency, providing different insight, tools, experiences, and knowledge that will help all of us move towards the big picture that is “Thriving” in HR.

Just as with real puzzles, it’s more fun to solve them together – so as always there will be the opportunity to network with local HR professionals from a variety of industries and roles – take advantage of this amazing opportunity to get involved.

As SHRM CEO Henry Jackson puts it, “…let’s see ourselves not as HR professionals, but as business professionals who happen to lead HR strategy."
